Hey guys, I have a variety of rare and vintage 6SN7 types available that will significantly upgrade the sound of the Atmasphere amps compared to using the stock Philips 6SN7's. Plus, as Ralph has clarified, the Atmasphere amps run the driver tubes gently, so you can ejoy your investment in vintage 6SN7 pretty much forever.Among the types I've got available are many of the long-life, mil spec types from the Vacuum Tube Valley article on 6SN7's. I've got VT-231's in various brands (which are the absolute best in my listening tests) and a variety of other mil spec types. Highlight tubes available are the smoked glass, round-plate TungSol JAN CTL 6SN7GT's from early 1940's, as well as the Sylvania and RCA VT-231 -- these are all incredible sounding tubes. I also have 6SN7W and 6SN7WGT from Sylvania, as well as "chrome dome" types. Offering only the American manufacture brands, no Euro types like CV-181 which may not be compatible anyway.
The tubes I'm selling are from bulk military stock and some may have been installed in military equipment at some point so they are not being sold as NOS tubes. However, they test as new, look good and can be matched in pairs for similar testing strength and good triode-to-triode balance. Prices vary from about $10 for the less-exotic types to $40 per tube for the top-shelf stuff -- price depends on brand, type and rarity. Quantities are extremely limited. I'm not a tube dealer, just a hobbyist that has more of these types of tubes that I can personally ever use and I would like someone else to enjoy them in their amps to learn what these tubes can do to improve their sound.
This is a good opportunity to get a set of vintage 6SN7 that you can enjoy virtually forever. I don't have an overall list available, but I would be happy to make a recommendation to fit your needs and budget if you don't know what you want.
Please e-mail me off-list personally at paul_knutson@ewb.com if you are interested. Thanks.
