I don't know what Mark thinks, but I have done
this. Originally I simply put a Hammond 300mH
choke between the two existing filter caps on
each side. Recently I have added an extra four
1500uF caps, by gluing them on top of the
existing ones. (Space is becoming a problem!).
I certainly don't have any hum problems.
Unfortunately CLC filters do generate low
frequency "bounce", at around 3Hz, but this
is very small (a few mV).One problem is that the chokes (mounted above
chassis since they are quite big) make the
built-in bias meter completely useless because
of the stray magnetic fields.John
