On some of my bass horns I run 1000watt amps but had good results with as little as 25 tube watts.And they can produce low end sure as good if not better than what you experance;) A large bass horn is probly the best way to make bass but the size cost etc...will always be the rarest of the rare in home audio. In link is a upsized imperal based design with dual 18in woofers. ea blue mid horns 31in to give idea on size of it all 19ft when set end to end no center space.
