In 76 I was 19! It is not done often but there is nothing to say that you cannnot run a tube amp with a SS preamp. That sub sounds like it takes care of the base problem.

I have had problems with the caps in the smaller Sansui speakers but not the bigger. They are all electrolytic so it is probably safest to change them.
