I braid them not too tight but enough for a regular pattern to happen. The lacquer/enamel/whatever it is is fine, but you need a solder pot or torch to burn it off terminations to avoid scarring up the wire.
Compared to the previous 18ga solid copper wire, these improved detail and imaging.
I'm no propeller head, but I just believe that with really sensitive speakers (mine are about 108db 1w/1m) one is not usually pushing huge quantities of power through the cables, so less is more. These offer an adequate passage without so much real estate that much smearing can occur.
BTW, single strands of the same 28ga magnet wire did not sound full. 2 strands may have been adequate, but that would be harder to bundle neatly. 3 strands per (Configured as 3 pairs) allow a nice braid with braided terminations.
Now Tom and the lamp cord crowd can have a go at this snake oil® nonsense...
