I have been experimenting with four accepted open baffles alterately stuffed with my 15 pairs of full/wide range 8" drivers, backed by either subwoofers or on board powered 15" woofers. I also have several front and back horns for listening to these drivers. I have become a convert to open baffle through this process and can speak to the fact that the Nirvana drivers are remarkable in this application. I am currently evaluating a pair of cast Super 8 Nirvanas in one of my open baffles with stunning results. I'm not saying that I believe that single full range drivers, augmented in the bass, is the best of the best, but, I am a big fan of maximum results through simplicity. Even though I am a big fan of multi driver compression horn based systems, I love the coherence and simplicity of open baffle.
