they must think that PWK didn't have access to Altec horns and drivers when he was building the speaker?

Not that there's anything wrong with that -- I just don't like the idea of people ripping apart perfectly good khorns and "improving" them. There are plans on the Internet for building your own bass horn if you want to go DIY, but with the requirements of good corners and walls I think that there are simpler ways to hit 32hz out there.
