I think you're talking about the fringe field. Yes, looking at the design, it looks like it would have some fringing around the gap. That's the problem with a very small voice coil and large center magnet - you easily saturate the pole and have lots of stray field from the top of the magnet to the bottom of the front plate. If they have the distribution of and level of flux they need in the gap, then they've achieved the result they want. It's just not done in an efficient manner.
