Well I've screwed up several times and didn't catch it until after I'd built the boxes.For instance, my first pair of DIY speakers were complicated transmission lines of my own design that took me about 400 hours to build. I was measuring the line length by going from reflector to reflector, and used what I thought was an innovative geometry that gave a nice long line length in a fairly compact enclosure (compact relative to a refrigerator, let's say). Well the correct way to measure line length is down the center of the pathway, which in this case meant that my line was only half as long as I thought it was. Instead of a ten foot line, I had a five foot line. Half as long = one octave less bass.
I said something worse than sh#################t, too.
