We talk a lot about "bang for the buck" here. So what can you get for 300 clams these days?I was pleasantly surprised to find a high-efficiency two-way for sale at my local Guitar Center for a lousy $300 last night.
Needless to say, I bought it.
It's a two-way with a fifteen inch woofer and a compression driver loaded by a waveguide. It was the waveguide that sealed the deal for me; most prosound speakers use horns. But this speaker uses an honest-to-God waveguide. It actually looks a bit like the Summas, but a lot cheaper, obviously. I'd love to own the Summas myself, but they're out of my price range right now.
Would anyone care to guess what $300 will buy you these days??
