I purchased this unit as part of question to build a minimized chain between sound sources and power amplifier. I did not intend to use this DAC as my primary source, but to serve as a "good enough" DAC for my TV, CD player, and DVD player. However, the Sanskrit is far more than "good enough." It provides excellent detail and an expansive soundstage. In fact, its performance bests DACs released in the past costing much, much more. The package itself is attractive and offers vertical or horizontal installation (with a front panel display that orients itself accordingly. I find the unit provides a well etched, but never fatiguing top end, warm midrange, and solid lows. The Sanskrit also offers a good deal of flexibility (including DSD) and appears very well built. While I also have a very nice Schitt Lyr 3 multi-bit DAC/preamp/headphone amp, I have no difficulty listening serious through the Sanskrit. It really is audiophile kit, despite entry-level pricing. I listen via a McIntosh 240 tube amplifier and Wharfedale Linton speakers.
