I'd expect Blu-Ray has a better chance of surviving than HD-DVD.

the greater storage capacity gives it a big edge for computer-based applications as well as video/audio bitrates for movie soundtracks. Plus all but one of the major studios supports Blu-Ray currently.

OTOH, alternate advanced technologies might trump both HD video formats before either can become entrenched.
