and I've had a problem with a couple of discs, but after nearly six years of almost very heavy use it has been pretty much problem free.The SCD-1 has had problems, but not with the laser. It's the lower cost SACD players or lower build quality (ex. Teresa's Xindak)that have not fared as well as far as reading hybrids. The tolerances for the laser may be difficult to achieve at low manufacturing cost.
