the scratch buffed out, being on the high gloss side panel made it an easy fix with polishing compound.after running my PAD break-in cd through the player and playing a cd on repeat all night, I can report the player sounds very nice and I am very satisfied with Sony's overall customer service.
Guess I'm good for another 5 yrs.
