I am leaning towards concurring with this statement (if one construes "industry" at large) especially after visiting related websites such as www.experiencebluray.com.Blu-ray appears to be a quite interesting new technology for certain areas such as videogames, high definition video, and data storage at large. I am much less intrigued by the promise of 7.1 audio (in Europe 5.1 tends to be regarded largely a cheapo low-brow gimmick), and am unable to see how media software producers may be so eager to support hard disk blu-ray recorders presented as capable of enabling you to store (i.e. to copy) hours and hours of video program from DVDs.
Things may change of course, and will expectedly change for good in the future. At present one is inevitably reminded of the story of the guy having purchased a Ferrari and showing up every night at the club boosting always shorter travel times from Milan to Brescia and back(40 minutes, 35 minutes, 30 minutes, toll-gate to toll-gate), and finally showing up with no car after a week: "I finally got rid of my Ferrari as I had plainly nothing to do at Brescia..."
