Hey, Ozzie. I purchased a Sony SCD 777ES with the intention of eventually having the VSE 5+ mods done based on the good reports and the fact Bill Thalman's shop is almost down the street; however, with all this recent talk on Digital Drive of "chirping" (is that anything like woofing or tweeting?) and other problems with hi rez, I'm put off a bit about going through with it. Should I be? I'm a veteran vinyl collecter and am looking for digital playback that I can live with for the long haul (the stock 777ES doesn't cut it). I am especially interested in optimizing SACD playback for classical (for me, rock & roll = vinyl). By the way, the 777ES (ditto for the SCD-1) is one kick-ass piece of equipment. I almost put out my back the first time I picked it up.
