1) Jazz ... Dave Brubeck Quartet - Take Five (great SACD transfer)2) Classical ... (Living Stereo) Rimsky-Korsakov: Scheherazade (awesome)
3) Rock (3-way tie) ...
Rolling Stones - Let It Bleed (ex. SACD transfer)
Derek & the Dominoes - Layla (not perfect, but about as good as this recording can get)
Deep Purple - Machine Head (euro. import, smooth; very analogue sound)
This is a tough call because I have a number of SACD faves in the rock category (many more than listed here) and it's difficult trying to assess one over another since I enjoy 'em all equally. Jazz & classical is much easier. Note: Even though I listen to quite a bit of classical the Living Stereo Scheherazade stands out for me every time.
