Well, the Chesky SACDs to date have been for the most part very well recorded and mastered. I would expect more of the same from them going forward.As for SACD becoming a bouqtique - or niche - format, some would argue it always has been. The roots of SACD have always focused in the worlds of classical, jazz and audiophile recordings.
And these days, niches are "in". Witness the popular best selling book "The Long Tail" by Wired Magazine's Chris Anderson. Chesky & the others (Channel Classics, PentaTone, et al.) could be on to something here....
