I'm unclear regarding the question: "does it convert DSD to PCM"? - Could someone please clarify this and explain why it is so important.I presently have a Sony 9000ES, about 10 years old, that is exhibiting some of the problems discussed elsewhere, so I'm considering whether to repair it or look into replacing it with a universal player. - When you say "convert DSD to PCM," do you mean the unit ALWAYS perform s such a conversion? What's important to me is getting the highest fidelity, particularly from DLH recordings, stereo and multichannel.
Obviously, I'm not understanding the significance of the DSD-PCM conversion, and I would appreciate a brief clarification, or directions to another reference source.
