HowdyFWIW I'd never leave mine open. I know how much dust settles elsewhere in my house and I don't want any of it anywhere near my system, let alone inside :) I usually dusted the top before I opened the player to avoid any getting in while the lid came back. (Old (clean :) diapers are great to have available for this.)
