I'm not the only tech who says this, Richard Kern and Alex P both say the same, from their actual experience, as does David G.

Please realise that the transport in the SCD-1/SCD-777ES is completely different to any other transport - as it moves the spinning disk, the heavy disk wieght, and all it's also heavy associated supports and spindle motor, back & forward along a pair of guide rails. This is a far bigger job then just moving the laser itself as in 'normal' transports such as your Cayin. And it becomes a problem if/when the lubricant dries out...

Cooling that chip is not a bad idea overall - but it won't help much if the disk assembly is trying to *accurately* move micrometers at a time on 'sticky" guide rails.
