I didn't listen to the Samsung out of the box, just shipped it to a friend of mine for the mods. the modded unit blows away my Pioneer DV563 that I bought a couple of years ago. The modded unit sounds extremely listeneable on my Infinity Intermezzo system (4.1 front, center and 2.6 rears). I must say that DVD-A is not sounding as good as SACD, don't know why but since I only have 6 DVD-A discs this is not a priority for me.i can also understand that the modification option will not be for everybody. I wouldn't have tried it myself and to pay for somebody else to do it would be costly I am sure. It was about 20 itty bitty parts and several hours of labor, part of which my friend spent figuring things out, the other part spent drinking beer as it should be for any project worth spending time on.

But I will say that I am satisfied with the result and won't be itching for a better player until Genesis "Lamb Lies Down on Broadway" comes out in Hi Def video and surround.
