New Chamber Works on SACD

New high resolution SACD releases, players and technology.

This is a heads up for lovers of chamber music. The following four discs are outstanding for not only their sonics but also their musical content. Brahms Piano Quartets with the Beaux Arts Trio & Walter Trampler on Viola,PentaTone Classics, I believe this is an old Decca recording and its a wonderful remastering. The next three are all new recording. Tchaikovsky's Piano Trio on Mirrored Nature Records with Alexander Stark, Violin, Bella Shteinbouk, Piano, Nata Belkin, Cello, this is a new company and they seem to be off to a nice start. String Quartets No's 2,4, &5 of Bohuslav Martinu are performed by the Kocian Quartet on Praga Digital, this is music of the 20th Century that has some bite to it. And finally the Beethoven 'Razumovsky' Quartets with the Tokyo String Quartet on harmonia mundi. If you only buy one of these, this is the one to star with first.
Also the Mandeling Quartet is about to start a complete Shostakovich cycle on the audite label. Something to look forward to in the coming months.
