When I upgraded my ROM last year, I ordered P/N 8-759-663-89 and received IC MBM29F400TC-90PF-S23, and as pictured above it was the v 2.53 chip. The chip itself was labeled 2.53 and it fixed my "burst of noise" problem. When I initially tried to order P/N 6-706-246-01 about a year ago, the Sony Parts site showed it as a discontinued part and identified 8-759-663-89 as its replacement. I just took a shot in the dark and ordered the chip that popped up on the site. If I was going to do this again, I guess I would order 6-706-246-01. Sony Parts seems to like dramatic tension in their transactions.
