Oh, Chris, you know I wasn't cursing "SACD types". I was pretty cranky with Sony because of their misleading marketing. Plus the fact that they could have achieved sonic results equivalent to SACD by using PCM more wisely. (If they had done so, their new format would have been much more successful as it wouldn't have required the pro world to buy all new hardware.)

But my main point was that SACD would only ever exist as a niche format. It's an obvious point today, but not so obvious four and five years ago. And my second point was that each person needs to decide for himself how much extra they want to spend on a player in order to play a limited number of discs. We've made that calculus a bit easier with the C-5xe, as the price premium is relatively low and the formats supported are wider.
