Previous room was 5.5m x 3.5m, opening into smaller L room about 1/2 its size on one side. Reinforced suspended joists at speaker location, heavilly carpetted. Equipment spiked. Wall paper. Lathe and plaster ceiling 3m high. Windows with wooden shutters. Well damped. Speakers 0.75m from backwall and 1m from side boundaries. Also another room with a different system without the L openeing.
Both rooms were not ideal acoustically compared to this one! I think the suspended flooors had a lot to do with it. Digital room equalisation improved bass and image stability and balance considerably and sound quality was then 'good'.
