I have a Sony 9000ES player that I have enjoyed for SACD stereo, CDs, and DVDs for several years. Recently, I noticed that it "skips" or "hangs" on various sections of several of my SACD's, but apparently not on the CD's. Moreover, the problem seems to be getting worse (occuring on more discs, etc.). What generally happens is that the unit will play the first several bands of a disc, and then simply stop, or hang. I can start over, but if I do, it hangs on the same place. In some instances I can jog it to the next band and get it started again. I might think this is caused by some bad or dirty discs, but it is happening on a number of them.Although the ES series has a 5-year warranty, I'm pretty sure that this unit is beyond that date, and I don't like having to send it in for repairs. - Do others have similar problems, on Sonys or other brands, and if so, what have you done to cure the problem? I'm wondering whether I should try to open the cabinet and clean off any wearing or dirt-collecting elements, such as any rubber driving wheels that contact the discs, etc.
Thanks for any suggestions.
