I am assuming the error message is occurring with hybrid disks. If you have cleaned the lens and performed the alignment and the error still occurs, you will indeed need to replace the laser assembly. This is what I did with my VSE modded 9000. If you install it yourself, the part is quite cheap and worth getting a spare especially if you will be modding the machine.DEVICE OPTICAL KHM220AAA/J1RP1
