My discussions with the US Marantz service center were all with office people. The ladies spoken to really have no idea what a SA-8260 is.
But I am now totally convinced my no read after being on for a long time is entirely a heat related issue. After removing my other machine from the cabinet and sticking it out on a desk, it seems to work almost flawlessly also. It reads a little slower than the updated machine, but has only had a real slow read once out of maybe 25 disc loadings. Before it was 50% after a couple of hours and close to 100% no read if left powered up for a couple of days. Opening and closing the drawer almost always fixed this.
Both machines are early 202 vintage.George
