But if you are looking for a lower priced machine, this one is more transparent than most low end stuff...in fact right up there with the expensive gear. It falls down mostly because the midrange is a bit rough...sounds (subjectively) like there is a suck-out in the lower midrange that affects male voices and some female voices, as well as ultimate timbre on many instruments. But it is transparent and dynamic and without direct comparison very satisfying. Much better than its older predecessor the C222ES, which I also own.
