When I substituted a midfi passive preamp in my system I could not notice the improvement provided by SACD which I had heard previously with my regular Music Reference tube preamp. After repairing my Music Reference preamp, I was back in SACD hog heaven.SACD is a noticeable improvement over CD in my system, using the same player you are using.
You will need excellent amplifiers IMHO to hear the difference.
