Alex was the last SACD-1000 hope and he's given up the Philips ghost. he can't get replacement parts, and everytime he does, most are dead out of the box. i have a Meitnerized SACD-1000 that he repaired and that has worked flawlessly since repair, but i just replaced it with a CDSD because i knew it was only a temporary thing. With Alex (rightfully) giving up on these, you won't find anyone who'll touch it. he was the only one who knew how to fix 'em, and he can't do it without parts. and Philips quit making 'em.
i'm really surprised that there hasn't been more of a backlash against Philips for their horrible way of dealing with this whole situation. they've completely washed their hands of all culpability, even though their product was god-awful in terms of reliability.
