My own experience with pro modders, both in hi-fi and in exotic sports cars, is that these are boutique operations which generally offer labor-intensive hand-crafted solutions. The buyer must be patient with slow responsiveness, eccentric characters, and squirrelly business models, in order to extract the genius that (sometimes) lies beneath. Generally you have to catch these guys running (don't leave phone messages and repeat emails; try calling over and over again or showing up in person). If you don't have the taste for this, stick with manufactured products or drop-in, productized aftermarket solutions (such as VSEI). If there is actual malice at work, it will eventually be outed in the marketplace (in this case the net forums) and put a permanent wave in the guy's business. So these kinds of threads belong on the forum, but I read them merely as indicative of the challenge one faces in this kind of business. My own approach is to buy parts from these guys and DIY.
