Don't send me an email...I will respond right here....it's a FORUM! That's what we do here....we respond, and debate and discuss.I own the Platinum Modwright 999ES (sign truth and bybees and ac bybees and umbilical with newer power supply). The redbook and SACD stereo is the best I've ever heard anywhere...period. However, you asked whether it made more sense to get a preamp. YES, get Dan's Modwright SWL 9.0 SE. It's remote-contolled tube preamp with HT bypass and a warm but detailed sound that is 3 dimensional. It will improve al lthat you send it, not jusat the 999ES. So....improve one, or improve all. Nothing against your pre, but it won't do the mods all the justice anyway, IMO.
