The musicians were arranged in the studio just the way you heard them in surround - in a circle with a pair of mics on each musician. The stereo mix is actually a "flattening" of the real event. For the most part, the acoustic space you hear is that of O'Henry Studios, studio A. The longer reverb is from a TC Electronic M-6000 since obviously a studio would not have that long of a reverb tail.
Rob Friedrich did those sessions and I'll pass your kind comments on to him.
