The Grungebuster2, though smaller and cheaper than the original Grungebuster, is clearly better than the original. I had a few audiophile friends over last night and we had a "shootout" between the GB2 and original Grungebuster, Marigo Crossbow, and Marigo Reference 3D. Without argument or much discussion, the Grungebuster2 was declared the winner (CD and SACD). The order of preference was:1. Grungebuster2
2. Marigo Reference 3-D
3. original Grungebuster
4. Marigo crossbowThe GB2 brings out amazing low-end bass definition and extension and really packs a punch. Although the 3-D is equal in dynamic response, it seems to lack just slightly in upper-frequency tonal truthfulness and overall sense of "being there" where the music is coming from. I think all the CD mats made worthwhile improvements, but it didn't take too much A/B going back and forth to decide which performed better, and which performed best.
