...by playing an SACD only disc - like one of the early SONY non-hybrids.I don't have a 9000ES here to check this - but the XB940QS uses the same transport and without a remote to change formats - this machine stays in whatever format it last played in.
So a few seconds of a non-hybrid SACD will reset it to SACD - and it then plays only the SACD layer of a hybriduntil you insert a RBCD and then it reverses and plays only the RB layer of hybrids.
I always ask for the remote with a 9000ES when doing an upgrade - as no other SONY remote provides all the functions.
