probably using much better words than me.I'm not as good as Mozart - didn't he transcribe an entire choral piece once from memory?
I can't really do that as well, mainly because I lack musical talent, but I used to try very hard as a kid - i would listen to a song, and then try and replicate it on the piano. i usually get the melody right, but getting the harmonies/chords can be quite difficult. and i have a very poor sense of rhythm, so i'm hopeless at determining when something is supposed to be on the beat or not.
