I think that you are probably right. Sony's announcement will most likely be something major. For Sony, SACD sales are a very small and insignificant fraction of their revenue. Eliminating SACDs or SACD players is not a major change. Ramping up SACDs and SACD players by a factor of 10 is not a major change. Check out the last line in this link. "Analysts said restructuring steps with little surprise could push Sony shares down."
And that suggests that Sony's major announcement will be, well, major.
