If you buy equipment solely based on the media you can find in "walk-in retailers," you should avoid not only SACD/DVD-A players, but turntables as well.Given that several of the mass-market "walk-in retailers" have turned over shelf space from CD to DVD, maybe you should avoid regular CD players as well. A $35 Apex DVD player and an MP3 player, and you're all set! ;-)
OTOH, there are numerous mail-order/Internet catalog outfits that have huge selections of DVD-A and SACD (and vinyl).
