Why would anyone want a recording made in the Academy?

The sound is extremely realistic with lots of ambiance, deep bass and a nice delicacy in the high frequencies. The soundstage is solid with excellent imaging. The only fault is the slight dryness of the Academy of Music in Philadelphia where this was recorded, and I know several people who have attended concerts in this hall and it is exactly what it sounds like live.

That's the problem, it does accurately capture what it sounds like to hear the Orchestra at the Academy. I have no idea why anyone would want to hear them in such horrible acoustics -- distant with little reverberation. This spring I saw my first post-Verizon Hall concert (opera really) at the Academy and I forgot just how bad the hall makes everything sound.

Save your money and buy the Orchestra's forthcoming recordings made by Polyhymnia at Verizon Hall.
