This same music can be played on many different instruments. There is an organ version on Red Rose Music. These fugues are well suited to organ and this is a good one.ASMF has a version out where each fugue is played on a different combination of instruments. Nice sounding and possibly the variation is useful in holding the listener's interest, but I find this a little distracting for some reason.
On Channel Classics, there is a version on saxophones. This seems very weird, but you read the notes and they make some sense, these types of saxophones are all designed to have a family sound. Actually this is a very nice way to hear these- but it's not quite complete, at least 2 fugues missing. Almost an organ sound, the lines are very well defined.
Haven't heard this one by Savall.
