The MTT/SFO 7th will be out in the fall. The live performances were well received and brilliantly played (I was at one of them). I'd wait.The 8th will be recorded in the spring, so won't be out for over a year. If you've gotta have it now, you'd need to pick one of the existing recordings. I have a lot of Kubelik's recordings (also saw him in the flesh), and his Mahler was always special. Haven't heard this 8th, though.
If you don't mind duplicate recordings, the SFO Mahler 2 is quite special, both as a performance and a recording. I also love the 3rd and 4th, although I can see how some might call them mannered.
