Some excellent examples are Mercury Living Presence, RCA Living Stereo, Vanguard, Everest and others are proof that 50 years tapes don't have to take the back seat even to recordings made yesterday as far as sound quality is concerned. This is just my personal opinion and I listen in 2 channel stereo only.I don't have the Pentatone Masur Beethoven #3 but like all Pentatone RQR this is an original 4 channel Quadraphonic recording. I have been very please with every Pentatone I have purchased.
