There is so much debate about the LCD-2s. At first it was all positive. Now, it's a bit more "balanced". I have been wrestling with mine t play well for quite some time.
As far as amps are concerned, both seem to require a lot of "current", although many report success with amps that don't have a reputation for being high current, such as the Leben CS300X. But hardly an amp has gone without mention on head-fi, as "the best" or workable with the LCD-2s.
In general, it would seem that you'd want an SS amp or hybrid with a JFEt, or other discrete output stage. I am sure the Cavelli Liquid Fire would fill the bill. On the tube side, the Eddie Current ZDT has also received high marks.
The low price option seems to be the Schiit Lyr.
It's sort of a minefield out there.
