I am using a Schitt Lyr 3 with multibit DAC as the front end of my main system. I like its DAC and its analog inputs as well, which allow me to use (via a rotary RCA switch) my analog sources. I finally tried the Lyr for its original intended purpose, headphone amp. In this case, I connected a pair of HIFIMAN HE400 planar headphones. (Old model, but still quite nice.)
I thought the Lyr was luscious driving my McIntosh tube amplifier and Wharfedale speakers, but I was not prepared for the level of transparency it delivered driving the headphones. I hope to listen more closely in coming days, possibly with some other headphones but I am really impressed based on what I just heard. The Lyr 3 is really a bargain, serving as a DAC, preamp, and headphone amp.
