For sonics I'll definitely go with binaural recordings, but....

... so few of them exist right now and the ones that do exist are more like hi-tech "demo recordings" than musically satisfying ones. Superior as they are for headphone use, I cannot think of even one that I would call a "favorite" recording (with the possible of exception of the Zenph re-recording of Art Tatum). As things stand today, headphone listening is simply too unnatural sounding to attract traditional audiophiles. So, the next big step forward for us will take place if/when the major recording labels adopt binaural recording technology. I probably won't have any "favorite recordings" (for both sonics and music w/ headphones) until more really good binaural recordings hit the market.
