I want to pass on what I've very recently learned: that a CD/DVD player is an excellent transport to be used with a DAC, like Paul Porcelli's Turbo DAC, which I've raved about excessively in this Forum. With the advent of Blue Ray, plain CD/DVD players are currently dirt cheap: I just got a new one on eBay for $30, shipped. Paul himself has only recently learned how good a CD/DVD player is as a transport. Search eBay for "Sony CD/DVD" and you'll see a lot. I got a DVP-N57P, which is very nice, and a DVP-SR200P, much less nice for this purpose since its display is poor except for use with a TV screen. I'd ask about the display before buying. They all seem to have coaxial digital out (on an RCA jack), needed for most DACS. Feel free to ask me more by email. How I regret all the relatively big money I spend on CD players for transports before I learned what I've said here!
