1. I usualy post on the Planar Asylum, but I am at wits end as they say. Yamaha 5.1 receiver(with FM), 5 small speakers etc. used with my old Tube Sony.
2. I buy new Sony 42" XBR., when watching Direct TV, if I want to switch over to my favorite FM station, the sound is at least twice as loud, maybe more, as if the speakers will blow out. I must turn volumn down to almost inaudable BEFORE I make the switch.
YES I TURNED THE SOUND (INTERNALY) OFF VIA THE XBR setup options AND REQUESTED EXTERNAL SOUND SYSTEM SOUND ONLY.
I have tried everything, 1 or 2 more times and my speakers (EPOS ELS3`s)will blow. Thanks for any help.

The dangerous thing here is, if I shut down after watching the Direct TV and turn on only FM the next day the volumn is at full blast, the catch being you can`t turn it down until you turn it on.
This can`t be right, having a note in front of you to remind you to turn the volumn way down before shutting Direct TV off (remember Direct TV sound is OFF)
