from what Ive read from the audio asylum & posters blogs 1st generation dvd audio players have not failed.
1st generation sacd players have been fixed or replaced.I own about 50 sacds I will play them only in my oppo.I own the very 1st dvd audio players made by panasonic & technics lots of hrs on them & they work like they were new.
I would think all the layers on sacd & dvd audios in the same machine would be hard on the lazer
I have 20 year old kyocera cd players that play fine.must be energisers in them lazers.:}
